Bedfordshire Domestic Violence Partnership - Working together to reduce domestic violence

MARAC

Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference - (DV MARAC)

Our MARAC system follows the CAADA model that has shown fantastic reductions in Domestic Violence in the South Wales area where it was initially piloted.

Our Committee membership is wide and there are an amazing number of different work groups between us who either directly conduct home visits or meet potential victims and offenders at their own work place.

The MARAC Committee meet once each month to review the most serious cases identified by a standard risk assessment process, each member agency then confidentially shares their own information around the MARAC table and discusses proactive ways ahead for each case including actions that will safeguard victims and children from future harm. Four weeks later they review the results obtained and maintain an oversight as to progress thereafter.

The rules governing our Bedfordshire MARAC are created and agreed by our own membership for the benefit of preventing victims of domestic violence suffering from all aspects of this most dangerous type of criminal offence whilst ensuring that the full force of the law is utilised to assist in achieving our objective of reducing domestic violence and safeguarding victims and children.
