Bedford Women's Refuge

Bedford Women's Refuge:

Bedford Refuge provides emergency accomodation for ten women and their children, who have been victims of Domestic Abuse.

The refuge is part of Christian Family Care, a Bedfordshire-based registered charity, which also manages Charis Mother & Baby Care and Manor Farm Family Centre. All staff receive training to at least the standard of NVQ level 3 and receive additional training in the form of child protection, record keeping, listening skills, confidentiality, anti-discrimination and health & safety.

With the help of Supporting People funding, it has also been possible to provide resettlement support for residents leaving the Refuge and moving back into the community.

Bedford Women's Refuge also works with a Children's Project who hold a strong committment to the care and welfare of the children at the refuge. This Children's Project offers a wide range of play and leisure activities including an outdoor safety surface with play equipment.
